The fish factory of Matis Pludonis was one of the youngest fish processing enterprises in the republic. Production was opened in 1970, when fish canning factories of Kolka, Roja and Mersrags were combined in one production. Unification of small companies in one large factory gave incredible economic effect already in one year.
